Hi This is Brad... I would LOVE to hear from you personally. Please text me any feedback or questions about this episode!

Special Christmas Episode

Brad invites his family into the studio for a Christmas Eve Special Edition, to chat about family traditions both old and new.  Some of the Christmas Traditions are negotiable and you'll hear that some are not, especially when it comes to the colored lights vs white lights!!

- Real or Artificial TREE?
- White Lights or Colored Lights (outside and on the tree)?
- When Do You Start Listening to Christmas Songs?
- What is Your Favorite Christmas Song

As the year winds down, we gather not just to celebrate, but to reflect and express gratitude for the year's blessings – the simple things that often go unnoticed.  Each family member shares a favorite Christmas Song that resonates with them, from timeless classics to the latest holiday hits that only seem to start playing earlier each year.  Whether you're decking the halls or just enjoying a quiet moment by the fire, this episode is a heartfelt mosaic of what makes this season special.  So pull up a chair, pour yourself some hot cocoa (or a glass of wine), and join us in sending off the year with joy and anticipation for what the new one holds.  #merrychristmas #thebradweismanshow #happynewyear #familytraditions #weismanfamilychristmas

Thanks so much for a great year!!  - Brad Weisman

Speaker 1:

From real estate to real life and everything in between, the Brad Wiseman show and now your host, Brad.

Speaker 2:

Wiseman. All right, here we are. It is the day before Christmas and we are super excited. We have a special show here. We have the Family is here, which is incredible. I don't think we've ever been in the studio together, right? Katherine, you've been on here. Carson, you've been in the studio. Jess, do you even know I do a podcast?

Speaker 3:

I've heard about it. My sister has told me you do a podcast.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I do. This is where I go most of the time in the basement, here at the office. So thanks for coming in, guys, Appreciate it. All right. So what I want to do is talk about some family traditions. Ok, Now we have our own family traditions, but then again, Mommy and I have our own family traditions too, so I wanted to talk about that. So, Jess, tell me something that you can think of in your past that you did, that you're like OK, this we did every year and it just. It was that which made a lot of sense to me and made me feel good.

Speaker 3:

Well, many of the traditions that we do were things that I remember doing as a kid going to look for holiday lights OK. Making gingerbread houses OK. Baking.

Speaker 2:

Did you do that?

Speaker 3:

recently some gingerbread houses. We might have done that recently.

Speaker 2:

I think we recently had 14 or 15 kids at the house we did. Jess had prepared for making of 15 different gingerbread houses.

Speaker 3:

We had lots of candy.

Speaker 4:

I think mine looked the best.

Speaker 2:

I saw yours. I don't think it was that great.

Speaker 1:

Mine looked the best. It had every single topping on it.

Speaker 2:

It had every topping on it.

Speaker 4:

I didn't have like it. It looked, it was interesting, even red icing.

Speaker 2:

Red icing. Red icing is good, I like red, obviously. So so you have those traditions. But what about? Ok, so fake or real tree. Did you have a fake tree or real tree?

Speaker 3:

Fake tree. We always had an artificial tree. Ok, so that's a new tradition, because we have a real one Getting a real tree.

Speaker 2:

What do you guys think about the real tree? It's kind of falling apart. It's falling apart. I didn't know it was falling apart.

Speaker 1:

One of the branches on the other side is down.

Speaker 2:

Oh jeez, I didn't know that. Catherine, what do you think about the tree?

Speaker 4:

I like the tree, but sometimes, you know, Russell.

Speaker 2:

Russell.

Speaker 4:

he was drinking the water this year, but I'm the one who said that I liked it first, so I basically picked it out.

Speaker 2:

You did. That was your tree this year. That's right, it was your tree and Russell definitely was drinking water out of the tree.

Speaker 1:

And knocking down some ornaments.

Speaker 2:

And knocking down some ornaments.

Speaker 1:

OK.

Speaker 4:

Yeah he knocked over like a glass one and then like this Lego one, and he tried to eat the legos out of it.

Speaker 2:

Oh my gosh, I didn't even.

Speaker 4:

That's the reason he's not here, right now.

Speaker 2:

This is true.

Speaker 3:

Russell's not here because there would be cameras going everywhere and he would be completely missed and there's a lot of wires here, A lot of wires, this is true, so I think that's a fun tradition that we do and we know we have to go to the same place every year.

Speaker 2:

And I think what you guys get into. Maybe we can even put a picture on here if we had some point, but we'll put it on Facebook. You guys really get into watching me get on the ground and cut down the tree. Is that really what you enjoy? That's the reason we do this, that is the reason.

Speaker 3:

We like to watch you suffer.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, I figured it took you a lot this year.

Speaker 4:

That was a lot. Yeah, thanks for noticing we had to call in.

Speaker 2:

We had to call and help. That's right. But that guy did say there was a lot of sap on that tree and it was a really thick trunk so it was very hard to cut.

Speaker 3:

Little sticky.

Speaker 2:

So the strapping young yeah, little sticky, little sticky, a lot of sap. There was this young strapping man that came over and ended up cutting down the rest of the tree, and I'll admit to that. I did not do it this year that well, so it's all right. So let's talk about another thing that we talk about all the time is colored lights or white lights. What do you guys like? No, go ahead.

Speaker 4:

Colored lights. But mom has her opinion.

Speaker 2:

Oh, what's mom's opinion? What do you like? Colored lights colored lights and what's mom's opinion about the lights?

Speaker 4:

mom thinks that we can have colored lights on the tree, but she does not like the way it looks on the outside. But honestly, I like the white lights on the tree because it looks like nice and it goes with that, but I think like the color lights on the outside.

Speaker 2:

Okay, okay, so you have. You definitely have an opinion on this. What do you?

Speaker 1:

think, I think the color light should be all over our house and inside.

Speaker 2:

Wow. So guess what? I'm kind of with you guys, so Maybe there should be a majority rules. Three to one. Three to one, hugo. What do you like? Colored lights or white lights? Colors there we go. Four to one.

Speaker 3:

Colors on the tree, white on the outside, so I think we're never gonna win. That was a compromise.

Speaker 2:

That was the compromise. All right, so we like, so we like. Basically, what you're saying is we like, we like colored, so we're gonna do colored entries and, of course, outside we do the white lights. Okay, so the other thing is um, what are you guys asking for this year?

Speaker 1:

I'm asking for a ps5 ps5.

Speaker 2:

What's a ps5 a? Place is that a five? What is it? Playstation five a PlayStation five and you think you were good this year. Yeah really should we wane on this? Hmm, hmm, I'm thinking coal, but go ahead. What are you asking for, catherine?

Speaker 4:

Um, I wouldn't like clothes and then I wanted like a TV for a room, but I don't know.

Speaker 2:

Okay, clothes. Okay, jess, what are you asking for this year?

Speaker 3:

Um.

Speaker 2:

I might need to know this. You know it. Did you ask for anything? I?

Speaker 3:

don't think I asked for anything. A whisk a whisk.

Speaker 2:

Wow, she's tough.

Speaker 3:

No, just for family to be together.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's true. That's true. That sounds good to me, absolutely Okay. So what about as far as gifts? Your favorite gift ever for Christmas, jess?

Speaker 3:

my favorite gift ever like wait.

Speaker 4:

I have a question that we've gotten in the past ever in the past.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, oh well, no for Christmas right, yeah, yeah, for Christmas, any of your Christmas, yeah yeah, favorite gift go ahead. Well, I guess a doll. I remember when I was three.

Speaker 2:

That's not the doll that's scary. Yeah, the one that's scary. It's all falling apart. Oh, that thing is. Oh, that doll is really creepy.

Speaker 4:

It's like falling there's like a limb.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think it lost its arm.

Speaker 1:

It is very special.

Speaker 2:

The head almost came off. Oh geez, Well, it was my face Well obviously it was in good shape when you got it.

Speaker 3:

It didn't come with a short cake, it was in gray shape.

Speaker 2:

There must have been a point where you were not nice to it, because it looks like somebody used it.

Speaker 4:

She went through like a rebel face no.

Speaker 2:

Rebel face beat up the doll. So what your? What's your favorite gifts? So for Christmas gift, come on, you got.

Speaker 4:

I don't know. I mean, I've asked for some interesting things like a bear holding a teacup. Yes like Green or be squishy.

Speaker 2:

Okay mint.

Speaker 3:

Yeah remember that very specific, very specific yes.

Speaker 2:

So what was your favorite Was?

Speaker 4:

that last year getting my phone was like really cool, but probably heirs toward tickets. Maybe that was really.

Speaker 2:

Oh yes, that's that. That's right, how's that?

Speaker 3:

Momo came through for you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's a really good one. Carson, what's your favorite?

Speaker 1:

Oh, mine is, I think, my Nintendo.

Speaker 2:

Nintendo yeah, the Nintendo switch yeah, that's really good, cool. What was your favorite gift? My favorite gift growing up and I had to think of it was the Firefox Firefox remote control. And never forget asking my mom and dad for this gift. And we were at that point Let me go above my grandmother grandfather's house and I'll never forget this was what I wanted. It was in the Sears catalog. I couldn't stop thinking about it. It's a remote control little. It was like a Jeep or something and it was called Firefox and even the name was like yes, this is why is it called Fox?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I got it.

Speaker 2:

I don't know, but that's what was called Firefox. So it was a great gift. I loved it. And the other gift that I really like my parents bought me a piano. The piano that's in our house. Yeah, that was another really good Christmas gift. So, yeah, so okay, let's keep moving on here. What about? Do you guys have an elf? Do we have an elf?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we do.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, what's her name?

Speaker 1:

Pippi.

Speaker 2:

Pippi Alpha's Pippi. What did Pippi? What did Pippi do?

Speaker 1:

She put saran wrap over the toilet and put Lucky Charms on it and she said that was our breakfast for this morning.

Speaker 2:

So we poured milk in it. We ate right out of the toilet. Why not? Why wouldn't you?

Speaker 3:

right. Yes, was it good we gave it to mommy.

Speaker 2:

Mommy ate it now.

Speaker 3:

We just had to quarantine off the bathroom.

Speaker 4:

We're unable to use it obviously. You close the door right.

Speaker 2:

Oh, why could you think Russell's eating the Lucky Charms or the elf and the elf? Yeah, we keep thinking that we're gonna see the elf get swallowed by our dog, but Hopefully not so far, so good so far, so good. That's right. I got a question. What do you think about? What do you guys think about me doing this podcast? Who would got quiet? Hugo, they don't like the podcast Now what do you think about it?

Speaker 4:

It's cool. I like this room.

Speaker 2:

You like this room. Okay, good answer. Good answer, carson.

Speaker 1:

Um, it's cool.

Speaker 2:

You watch the YouTube stuff sometimes.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, listen, kathy listens.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, very good, jess, did you? Do you? Jess? Just found out today that I have a podcast, which is very nice. Um, this is the podcast.

Speaker 3:

I love that you do the podcast. I don't always get to catch up on episodes, but in my defense, I don't watch TV or any of those things, I agree we are still finishing Yellowstone.

Speaker 2:

We're a very wholesome family. We don't watch TV, we unplug the TVs.

Speaker 3:

I don't know about that, but just a little too busy.

Speaker 2:

No, we don't know. But you're right, yellowstone, we still have to finish. So that just shows you how much TV we watch, right, all right. So then, on that same vein, what does a realtor mean to you? What does that mean? Like, what is it?

Speaker 4:

A person that sells houses.

Speaker 2:

Okay, okay, carson.

Speaker 1:

Persons that give. People that give like tours of houses.

Speaker 2:

Tours of house. Okay, good answer. Good answer Okay, and Jess.

Speaker 3:

You, you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, just me. Okay, sounds good, all right, so here's. Here's another one that I had in here. We have a lot to be thankful for this year, and we're going to end it up with this. We have a lot to be thankful for because I think not only you know Thanksgiving was just here, but I think Christmas is also another great time to be thankful to, to say thanks for a lot of things that we have and to look back on the year, because also right around the corners is 2024. What are the, what are the things that you can think of that you're thankful for, carson, for this past year?

Speaker 1:

Um nothing. To come back.

Speaker 2:

He's got a lot to think about, catherine.

Speaker 4:

Family, friends, like health and like having a house, I guess.

Speaker 2:

Having a house. Very good, very good, carson, you just did you think anything about your thankful for?

Speaker 1:

Um, um. Thank you for having a dog.

Speaker 2:

Okay, that's good.

Speaker 1:

That might eat my elf Family friends food.

Speaker 2:

That's good. Those are all good ones. The bathroom, the bathroom. You're thankful for the bathroom, okay, okay, what else would you do? I'm thankful for bathrooms. That's good. That's good, jess. What are you thankful for this year?

Speaker 3:

Well, of course, all of the things you mentioned. But getting back to to traditions, when you said, what do you remember as a kid? Always Christmas Eve and Christmas day, we had very special yeah Moments with, you know, family members.

Speaker 2:

So, and your dad was had a rough time this year.

Speaker 3:

He had a rough time but, I was also thinking you know those memories. It's not the gift. I don't remember the gift that I got during those times growing up, but I remember playing with my cousins. I remember the peep filled the room and I'm just thankful to get to have that this year. Yeah, I agree, and anyway, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and having those people.

Speaker 2:

And it's cool because we do Christmas Eve with grandma and grandpa and then we do Christmas Day with nanny and grandpa, so it's kind of cool.

Speaker 3:

We get to see.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, and Jeremy.

Speaker 3:

Momo, and those memories of the special time that you spend with those people during those days.

Speaker 2:

Because we don't know when, that when it's going to be the last Christmas, I mean not to be sad or anything like that, but you just don't know, you don't know. So it's good. And I'm the same Obviously thankful for my family, because we have an awesome family, as the four of us here Thankful for my parents are still around, your parents are still around, which is great and not everybody can say that. And I'm thankful also for the business I'm in and everything, and and you know I'll thank for all those things Thankful have an awesome wife, awesome kids, and and I just hope that everybody has a great Christmas because the new year's coming up and we have a lot of things to look forward to and I think it's going to be a great year.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, new year, enjoy that, yeah, so how about favorite Christmas song.

Speaker 2:

Oh, favorite Christmas song, great one. Okay, first, before that, jess, I have to say when do you start listening to Christmas songs? You go, I'm going to ask you first when do you start listening to Christmas songs? Do you start Thanksgiving? Do you start before Thanksgiving, after Thanksgiving, after Thanksgiving? Okay, we got, we got one there, catherine, uh like.

Speaker 4:

May. No, I was kidding May Um, I don't know, Like November, beginning of November, beginning of November.

Speaker 2:

Okay, and then you yell at me.

Speaker 4:

You're like no Christmas, yeah, okay, that's good, that's, good, it's it's.

Speaker 2:

everybody has their own thing. Go ahead, carson Um probably November too.

Speaker 1:

November, okay, like beginning.

Speaker 2:

November. You're thinking, yeah, when it comes out on uh, when it comes out on uh, the Holly, like the Holly channel series XM, right, yes, when do they start?

Speaker 3:

Well, so usually right after Halloween the next morning I am searching Google. When is Holly channel coming on? Yes, so the earlier the better for me, but I think it was like maybe the eighth this year that they started. The eighth, wow yeah, or fourth or so they made us wait a little bit. Yeah, do you know when I liked it? What do?

Speaker 2:

you guys think? How do you guys like it? What do you guys think? How do I think about?

Speaker 1:

this After Thanksgiving.

Speaker 2:

They know that. Yeah, Because my thing is this I don't want to get sick of the music. There's no such thing. There's no such thing. Oh my gosh.

Speaker 3:

How many times can you?

Speaker 2:

hear like these things there's no such thing. No, all right, I'll go with that. Now, the next thing is favorite Christmas song, and that's how we're going to end this favorite Christmas.

Speaker 4:

So I like rocking around the Christmas tree, but I also like that one by like Gwen Stefanian.

Speaker 2:

Blake Blake Shelton. You make it feel like yes, good song, great song, great song. Go ahead, carson.

Speaker 1:

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Speaker 2:

Good one. Any particular artist on that one?

Speaker 1:

Michael Buble yeah, good job.

Speaker 2:

Good job.

Speaker 3:

Marshmallow world.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, cause you can sing that one. Yeah, and what do you? What about you, mommy?

Speaker 3:

Oh, I have to say some traditional. I like a silent night. Oh Christmas tree.

Speaker 2:

I could just you go and.

Speaker 3:

I have a list.

Speaker 2:

I'm so unprepared.

Speaker 3:

Well, and then, of course, the newer ones. I love Mariah Carey's. I love, step into Christmas.

Speaker 2:

Good one, the new Elton John Ed Sheeran. Oh see, you stole mine.

Speaker 3:

The one Catherine said we could keep going All the music.

Speaker 1:

So you do have a list.

Speaker 2:

You do have a list. You do have a list. I mean, so mine is definitely the Ed Sheeran Elton John one. That's an awesome one I do like the whole Michael Buble album, of course, and the other ones that you don't hear as much anymore. And we just talked about this was the Harry Collin Junior CD, because that used to be like the staple for Christmas for me. But no, I'm New.

Speaker 3:

York Christmas, oh another good one.

Speaker 2:

Another good one. That's a good one, hugo, what's your favorite? You're on to put you on the spot.

Speaker 3:

We probably said them all yeah, we probably did.

Speaker 2:

We got you cover. We got you cover. Well, I want to thank you guys for coming in here today. I know you're all very busy doing Christmas shopping for me, so is that what you were doing? I figured yes Now, but thanks for coming in. I want to say Merry Christmas to our family, to you guys, to also thankful to the people that are listening to the show. Every week we're here Thursdays at 7 pm. This is a special edition, though, for Christmas, and you know I just want to say thanks overall. All right.

Speaker 3:
